The longest Antarctic voyages add the Falkland Islands and South Georgia to the Peninsula, and they are among the most wildlife-rich trips anywhere. This route starts with a long series of flights from Bangkok to Ushuaia, usually through the Gulf or Europe and Buenos Aires. The voyage itself, often around three weeks, is run by an expedition operator. The itinerary spends two nights in Ushuaia.

After leaving the Beagle Channel, ships head east to the Falklands, where walks lead to colonies of albatrosses and penguins and there is time in Stanley. Sea days then bring you to South Georgia, an island whose beaches can hold tens of thousands of king penguins and where the old whaling station at Grytviken has a museum and Shackleton's grave. Visitors must clean their clothes and gear carefully before landing to protect the island from introduced species. The last part of the voyage reaches the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetlands, before the ship returns across the Drake Passage.

These long voyages run mostly from about November to February, within the October to April season described by IAATO. Early-season voyages see courtship and nesting, while later ones see more chicks.
